Its that time of the year, how time flies. As the festive season is upon us once again I suppose it’s natural that we reflect on the year gone by, the good, the bad and not so good and how we can make things better. Human nature been what it is means we all reflect on the personal, on how things affect us. Most things regarding our self we have control over, we can analyse, look back and wish we did and said this that and the other but that is behind us now, its past and we move on.
What better way to move forward than imbuing the spirit of Christmas. Kindness and thoughtfulness are within us all to project. We all have those qualities but often we fail to project them in a meaningful way. It’s the simple things that can have the greatest impact and it doesn’t cost us a cent. The importance of a kind word or gesture cannot be underestimated. We have all experienced the damaging and hurtful effects unkind words can have and where they can lead.
So let’s resolve this Christmas to be thoughtful in our choice of words. Think of how it brightens your day when people say a kind word to you. Think of those workers who serve the public this Christmas, how pressurised they are and the abuse they often suffer from impatient customers, it’s bound to affect them. Think of how uplifted they also feel when people thank them for their help. It’s nice to be nice it doesn’t cost us anything but its effect is beyond measure.
At this time of year perhaps we should also reflect on how lucky we really are, and hold that thought for a few moments ………………….
For the majority of us there are so many positives and it good and okay to embrace that but it is also okay to hold a thought for those less well off, both at home and abroad and if we can maybe we could sacrifice a little for those that haven’t a lot.
Wishing you all A Happy and Peaceful Christmas.
